Painting West Elm Armoire

Jul 24th

West elm armoire has an interesting story. They started as big cabinets used to store weapons. Prior to general practice of building homes with wardrobes, people began to adjust the armoires to store clothes. Recently, armoires have sometimes become beautiful items lacking useful function – a kind of national sculpture – or have become home entertainment centers or computer workspaces. You can paint or refinish an armoire in a variety of ways to complement a room.

Some decorators create a less messy, restful environment by painting one or more furniture items in the same color as the wall behind them. Often, if the wall has a matte finish, you can use a satin or even shine color on the armoire. If west elm armoire has a feature that you want to emphasize, you can paint the only feature of the same shade, but lighter or darker.

Every color in the rainbow

Within a general monochromatic space, you can paint any west elm armoire component a different color. This theater method works best with an armoire design strong enough to support it. You can use one of several possible variations on this theme. Paint each box another primary color (yellow, blue and red) or add secondary colors as well (green, orange and violet). Then paint the structural frame of the armoire white, gray or black. Use matte colors, gloss colors or a combination of both.
