Responsibilities
Block Captains
-
Host a
meeting for the residents on your block. The Hermosa Beach
Officer will attend your meeting. This will help residents
become more security conscious and updated on happenings in
their neighborhood.

Maintain
an up-to-date telephone and e-mail tree for your block. One
of the most important aspects of being a block captain is
getting to know your neighbors and how to contact them.

Pass
crime statistics to residents on your block, in a timely
manner.
-
Attend
citywide Neighborhood Watch meetings to keep abreast of the
latest information in crime trends and prevention, and
disaster preparedness. Pass this information on to your
blocks as soon as possible.

Complete
the Trifecta, an optional information series
of tours designed for Neighborhood Watch Block
Captains.
-
Trifecta consists of:
a)
a tour of
the HBPD featuring the jail
c)
a tour of
HB in a “Black and White” (ride along)
District Coordinator
-
Recruit volunteer Block
Captains for your district.
-
Serve as liaison
between your Area Coordinator and your Block Captains in
your district.
-
Attend a block meeting
in your district to keep up to date on the latest crime
trends.
-
Maintain a current list
of Block Captains and their telephone and e-mail
trees.

Pass
crime statistics to Block Captains, in a timely manner.
Area Coordinators
-
Recruit District Coordinators and Block Captains, for
your area.

Hold an annual meeting with District
Coordinators, in your area. This meeting will
insure the success and continuity of the Neighborhood
Watch Program

On third Monday of each month, attend the Area
Coordinators meetings.

Hold an annual meeting for Block
Captains in your area when requested.
-
Attend a block meeting, in your area, to
keep abreast of new information offered to blocks
-
Maintain a current list of Block
Captains and their telephone and e-mail trees.
-
Pass crime statistics to District
Coordinators or Block Captains, in a timely manner.
