1. Check on your loved ones first.
2. Get your Map Your Neighborhood bag
with your sturdy shoes, hard hat and
leather gloves and PUT ON.
3. Check on your home. Check your
natural gas. DO NOT TURN OFF
unless you hear gas hissing, smell gas
(rotten egg smell) or see the gas meter
spinning out of control. If you turn it
off, DO NOT TURN BACK ON. It can only
be turned back on by a So. Ca. Gas
representative. If you do not know
where your gas meter shut off valve is
or your water shut off valve is, please
make sure you locate these valves
tomorrow. Mark them and teach your
family how to shut off. If you would
like the services of a company that will
come to your home and assist you with
this, please
visit them on the web.
4. Block Captain's that have taught your
block the Map Your Neighborhood Program,
meet at the gathering spot and place two
fire extinguishers on the sidewalk (line
of sight).
5. Call your OUT OF STATE CONTACT if you
are able to make a call to let them know
you are OK or to check to see if other
family members have checked in.
6. If you are in the HB Amateur Radio
Association, please check in on the NET.
7. Do not panic. Remain as calm as
possible.

Block Captains to take this 9-step
Neighborhood Program on what to do
within the first hour after an
earthquake. Any resident is welcome to
take this class.
