Synopsis:
On 03-27-2009 at about 11:30PM, HBPD
officers responded to a report of a
large fight in the area of 00 block of
20th Court in Hermosa Beach. The fight
involved numerous subjects that were
attending a house party nearby. The
above victim was the host of the party,
with most of the party goers/assailants
being juveniles who were allegedly
students of nearby Mira Costa High
School. The large fight involved
several named suspects assaulting the
victim (kicking and punching). The
fight culminated with the juvenile
suspect, now in-custody, slashing the
above victim's right arm with a knife.
The wounds were minor, and the victim
was treated and released at the scene by
HBFD Paramedics. HBPD officers checked
the area, but could not locate the
suspects.
On 04-03-2009 at about 10:30PM, HBPD
officers again responded to a report of
a large fight in the area of 00 block of
20th Court in Hermosa Beach. The
circumstances were essentially the same
(numerous juveniles assaulting the
victim) except this time the juvenile
suspect (now in-custody) struck the
victim in the face with a shovel.
Witness accounts indicated the juvenile
suspect was the same as the suspect from
the prior knife slashing incident. The
victim sustained a concussion and was
transported to a local hospital by HBFD
paramedics.
HBPD officers located the juvenile
suspect fleeing the area on foot. The
juvenile suspect was ultimately
arrested. The other suspects in the
assault are still outstanding.
Both incidents are under investigation
my HBPD detectives. The motive for the
assaults is unclear at this time.
The juvenile suspect is being held at
Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in the city
of Downey on $30,000 bail.
Eyewitnesses to the assault(s) are
encouraged to contact HBPD Detective
