BURGLARY SUSPECT IS ARRESTED AFTER AN ALTERCATION WITH THE VICTIM

Charge:                    459 PC- Residential Burglary
 
Bail:                           $50,000                                  
 
Synopsis:
 
On 02-06-09 at approximately 2:00AM, HBPD officers responded to the area of 20th Street and Beach Drive on a report of a possible burglary suspect being detained by a citizen.  Officers arrived on-scene to discover the victim in a physical altercation with the suspect.  The suspect was taken into custody by HBPD officers.  Nearby in the ally was the victim's flat panel television, which the suspect had carried out of the victim's house.
 
The victim reported that he and his wife were asleep inside their house.  They were woken by the sounds of the suspect walking around inside their house.  The suspect ultimately exits the house, taking the victim's flat screen television with him.  Seeing this, the victim confronts the suspect in a nearby ally as the suspect was trying to flee.  The victim physically restrains the suspect until HBPD officers arrive and take the suspect into custody.  Neither the suspect nor the victim sustained any significant injuries during the incident. 
 
The suspect is free on $50,000 bail, with his arraignment set for 03-18-09 at Torrance Superior Court.
