Details:
On 03-15-2008 at about 11:30 PM, officers
from the Hermosa Beach Police Department
responded to a call of a family disturbance
in the 800 Block of The Strand. When
officers arrived on scene they encountered
the ex-girlfriend and the victim outside the
apartment building. The victim was bleeding
profusely from several stab wounds to the
neck and arm. Officers then observed the
suspect in the window of the apartment
wielding a knife. Officers secured the
perimeter of the location until SWAT teams
from the Hawthorne and Redondo Beach Police
Departments arrived. Police crisis
negotiators established a dialogue with the
suspect. During the negotiations the
suspect vandalized the interior of the
apartment. Further, he repeatedly
challenged officers to kill him. Crisis
negotiators eventually were able to talk the
suspect into surrendering after a 5 hour
stand off with police. Brindamour was booked
into the Los Angeles County Jail where he
will be held without bail.
The victim was transported to an area
hospital by the Hermosa Beach Fire
Department, where he is in serious but
stable condition..
The ex-girlfriend had obtained a restraining
order against the suspect 4 days prior, but
it had not been served.
The suspect and ex-girlfriend had dated for
approximately 4 months until they broke up
one week ago.
Officers from the Manhattan Beach, Redondo
Beach, Torrance, Hawthorne, Palos Verdes
Estates, and CHP responded.
