Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Watch and Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Watch share crime information to better inform our residents on 'crimes of opportunity' as we are neighboring cities.  Two weeks ago, MB had a week of vehicle thefts and burglaries.  Let's tighten down our city as it very well could be related.  Read the crime logs and do your part to keep your valuables safe.  BE PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE!

1/22/08 - 1/23/08     10 p.m. - 7:20 a.m.                    300 block of 31^st Street

(Stolen Vehicle) Unknown suspect(s) stole the vehicle from the garage of the residence. Items in the trunk that were taken included a lap top computer, CDs, and miscellaneous papers.

1/22/08        2:30 p.m. - 2:35 p.m.                 200 block of Seaview Street

(Stolen Bicycle) Unknown suspect(s) took a bicycle from the open garage that was left unattended for just a few minutes.

1/23/08 - 1/24/08         7 p.m. - 7 a.m.              500 block of 33^rd Street

(Vehicle Burglaries) Unknown suspect(s) smashed the left rear passenger window of the locked vehicle and took a computer, camera, briefcase, iPod, and several papers. Suspect(s) also smashed a rear left window on a second vehicle at the same address, but no theft occurred. Both windows had pry marks on the frames, but because of the rain, no fingerprints were obtainable.

1/23/08 - 1/24/08     4:30 p.m. - 8 a.m.         600 block of 33^rd Street

(Vehicle Burglary) Unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger window and took a backpack containing a wallet with ID, several credit cards, checkbook, gift cards, an iPod, and other items.

1/23/08 - 1/24/08     10:30 p.m. - 9:30 a.m.   500 block of 35^th Street

(Vehicle Theft) The victim parked the vehicle in front of her house, but was not sure if she locked it. Unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle and took a jacket from the front seat. The jacket was recovered at the scene of another vehicle theft and returned to the owner. (See next incident).

1/23/08 - 1/24/08    5:30 p.m. - 8 a.m.         500 block of 35^th Street

(Vehicle Burglary) The victim parked and locked the vehicle on the street and returned to find the vehicle had been ransacked and a wireless headset, DVDs and a navigation system were missing. The method of entry to the vehicle is unknown and no suspects were seen or heard. Some of the victim's property was recovered in the area, along with a jacket that was taken from another victim's vehicle.

1/23/08 - 1/24/08                       8:30 p.m. - 7 a.m.         500 block of 35^th Street

(Vehicle Burglary) Unknown suspect(s) stole a briefcase and laptop computer from the vehicle which was parked in front of the residence. Victim believes he left the vehicle unlocked.

1/23/08 - 1/24/08    10 p.m. - 7 a.m.            3300 block of Laurel Avenue

(Vehicle Burglary) The victim parked and locked his vehicle in front of his residence. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger window and took a briefcase containing several papers and a laptop computer from the vehicle. Items from another vehicle burglary in the area were recovered during the investigation.

1/23/08 - 1/24/08      8:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.     3300 block of Laurel Avenue

(Vehicle Theft) The victim parked her unlocked vehicle in the driveway when unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle and took a purse containing check and a debit card from the front passenger seat. A second unlocked vehicle at the same address that was parked on the street was also entered by unknown suspect(s). Sunglasses were taken from the center console and a briefcase from the front passenger area. Some of the items from these two thefts were found nearby.

1/27/08 - 1/28/08      6 p.m. - 7 a.m.              500 block of 23^rd Street

(Vehicle Vandalism) The victim's vehicle was parked and locked in front of his residence when unknown suspect(s) made two dents and broke the passenger's side view mirror.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08        8 a.m. - 8 a.m.           600 block of 25^th Street

(Vehicle Theft) The victim parked her vehicle in the driveway, but failed to lock it. She discovered her navigational system was missing from the windshield and a diaper bag was missing from the rear seat. No suspects were seen or heard.

1/25/08       12:15 a.m. - 8 a.m.                    600 block of 25^th Street

(Vehicle Burglary) The victim parked and locked his vehicle in front of his residence. He discovered the right rear window was smashed and his backpack and its contents were missing from the rear seat. The backpack contained a computer, video games and two bibles. Smashed glass was found on the ground, but no suspects were seen or heard.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08   4:30 p.m. - 8:05 a.m.       600 block of 27^th Street

(Vehicle Theft) Unknown suspect(s) took several gift cards from the victim's unlocked vehicle which was parked in the driveway.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08   7 p.m. - 7 a.m.            600 block of 27^th Street

(Attempted Vehicle Theft) Unknown suspect(s) opened the glove box inside the unlocked vehicle which was parked in front of the residence, but nothing appeared to be missing.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08    10 p.m. - 7 a.m.               500 block of 27^th Street

(Attempted Vehicle Theft) Unknown suspect(s) opened the center console and glove box inside the unlocked vehicle which was parked in the driveway, but nothing was missing.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08    11 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.     600 block of 29^th Street

(Attempted Vehicle Theft) Unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear window of the vehicle which was parked and locked on the street, but nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08    10 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.          700 block of 29^th Street

(Vehicle Burglary) The victim parked and locked his vehicle on the street in front of his residence. At approximately 4 a.m. he heard his dog barking and looked outside his residence, but did not see anything. In the morning he discovered that his front passenger side window had been smashed by unknown suspect(s). Items taken included a navigational system from the glove box and a briefcase from the front passenger seat. A day planner and files which had been inside the briefcase were on the ground outside the vehicle.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08    4:30 p.m. - 5:45 a.m.  700 block of 29^th Street

(Attempted Vehicle Theft) Unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger side window on the vehicle which was parked and locked in the driveway. It appeared suspect(s) opened the glove box and center console but nothing was missing from the vehicle.

1/24/08 - 1/25/08  10:45 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.               700 block of 29^th Street

(Vehicle Burglary) The victim parked and locked his vehicle in his driveway. He returned to discover unknown suspect(s) smashed the right rear passenger window, ransacked the vehicle and removed a black canvas bag from the rear passenger floor area. The suspect(s) removed most of the items from the bag and threw them on the ground. A cell phone and a card file were stolen.

1/25/08 - 1/26/08   9 p.m. - 9 a.m.                3600 block of Elm Avenue

(Vehicle Burglary) The victim parked and locked her vehicle in her driveway. She returned to find the front passenger side window had been smashed and her purse was missing from the front seat. The purse contained several credit cards. No suspects were seen or heard.

1/26/08 - 1/27/08   1 p.m. - 10:15 a.m.         500 block of 33^rd Street

(Theft of Mailbox) Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's metal mailbox from outside the victim's house. During the night the victim heard what sounded like a gust of wind and then a sound like "flower pots falling over" but did not think much of it. The mailbox was empty.
